Inspiration for this Art Piece

This art piece is inspired by the spiritual concepts of "light and dark" sides to each person. Our Dark side is under the control of "subconscious" (reactionary and instinctual) programming. This is symbolized by the dark side of the face and the Monarch butterfly. The blue clothing with X & O representing "Duality" where we attempt to understand good and bad, light and dark, right and wrong, based on the choices we make. The other side in the "light" (hence depicting the woman wearing sunglasses because the light is so bright, is depicted with straight lines, less chaos, and flower patterns representing a state of 'happiness'. Hearts are flying as the heart "opens" up like a flower. We all receive a "wake-up call" at some point in our life where we transition from the dark to light, and transform ourselves like a butterfly out of a cocoon.
